This is the chocolate and peanut butter sugarless shootout. A comparison of taste and value for sugarless peanut butter cups.

They are compared to the Reese’s regular sugar C as a standard. We’ll look at Russell Stover’s, ChocZero,

and Choco Rite brands. Two of them are available in stores. Two are available online.

See how these three sugarless cups compare to the Reese’s. For this each is going to be weighted and taste tested.

So we’re going to start with the commercial, regular sweetened, not sugar-free version of the Reese’s Mini Peanut Butter Cup. It weighs 8.9 grams. The peanut butter inside’s very sweet, slightly chunky with little tiny little crispy bits of something in there. Very sweet chocolate it’s melting in my hands already. There’s a lot of a very sweet peanut butter, like a Jiff brand peanut butter.

Russell Stover’s

Next up is going to be the Russell Stover’s version, which looks like the largest one of the whole set. It’s slightly less thick than these other two. Tasting it, not a bad amount of chocolate or peanut butter. Each of those Russell Stover’s weighs in at a whopping 17.3 grams. It’s gonna take a couple bites to eat this. Much more chocolate, about two-thirds of chocolate to one-third peanut butter. It’s a good mix I guess. A very creamy peanut butter inside. Kind of a nuttier flavor rather than a sweeter flavor of peanut butter. The chocolate itself is very sweet. It has a nice creaminess but it’s still strong, it stands up the pressure it’s not melting much in my hands at all. This also has some body to it when you chew on it. When you have it in your mouth you can really tell it has some body to it.

That’s really good chocolate. Their chocolate tastes more like cocoa than it tastes sweet. It must be like a 50 % or darker chocolate that they’re using. So the chocolate could be a little sweeter, but that’s what peanut butter is there for right. Russell Stover’s don’t put a lot of chocolate in their confections. They prefer to let the filling do all the sweetening.

ChocZero

So next up is the ChocZero. Weighing found that it weighs 14 grams. That’s not too far behind the Russell Stover’s. A very thick one, let’s see if the peanut butter inside is thick. Yeah I would say that’s half peanut butter, half chocolate in the mix there. Their chocolate is like a hearty milk chocolate sweet and chocolatey at the same time. Not so much peanut butter. It’s a little more peanut butter and that’s a sweet peanut butter. Very smooth and creamy. It’s actually got less chocolate in it by volume at least but the flavor is definitely there. You will definitely not mistake the chocolate flavor.Yeah, so the chocolate kind of has a staying power while the peanut butter melts in your mouth. It’s holding up pretty good in my hand too, it’s not really melting in my hand.

Choco Rite

Now the last one. There’s really only one fourth of one of these Choco Rite Peanut Butter Crisp Bars. So the chocolate from Choco Rite weighs in at 7.5 grams for this serving size. Let’s put the whole bar on. We’re talking an ounce of chocolate. There’s 32 grams in the whole bar. I like the chocolate in this a lot. It’s got some body too. Meaning, it holds together well but it also melts after a couple seconds very nicely. The peanut butter inside. It’s a very creamy peanut butter. I can make out the peanut flavor more than I make out the sugar flavor. So as far as the peanut butter goes this is a pretty good peanut butter flavor too.

That and the Reese’s probably have the most peanut butter flavor in them.
